Job Description

The Opportunity

In this hands-on role, you’ll develop and improve products from bench to factory— working with Marketing & Sales team on new ideas, collaborating with operations to run trials and handover, and providing inputs for our stage gate process, product costings, artwork and specifications. You’ll also provide technical support for troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

  • Product Development: Formulate and refine recipes to brief; own NPD tasks from bench samples through to launch readiness; assess and approve new and alternate raw materials for performance and quality.
  • Process Development & Implementation: Scale recipes to commercial batch sizes; set and validate process parameters in trials; lead factory handovers; issue and maintain batch cards and SOPs.
  • Packaging Development: Assess pack formats for fit, cost and line capability; provide accurate artwork inputs (ingredients, allergens, nutrition, claims) and support approvals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Improve how we develop, launch and manufacture our products—identify opportunities to streamline approvals and our manufacturing process, strengthen documentation, and uplift sensory and trial learnings across projects.
  • Manufacturing Support: Support production with recipe/ingredient guidance; troubleshoot quality and process issues on line; help implement updates with minimal disruption.
  • Work, Health & Safety: Work safely every day—follow procedures, complete required training, report hazards/incidents, and contribute to a proactive safety culture.

Desired Skills and Experience

To succeed with us

  • Clear, confident communicator: Turn briefs into actions and keep stakeholders informed and aligned (R&D, QA, Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales, Marketing and external suppliers), including during plant trials and handovers.
  • Hands-on formulator: Develop and refine recipes in kitchen/lab—balancing flavour, texture, cost and manufacturability—and run sensory panels to guide decisions.
  • Organised and delivery-focused: Run multiple projects without dropping detail—trial plans/results, recipe version control, and batch card/SOP updates.
  • 2+ years in recipe development within food manufacturing environment (ideally FMCG sector): Bachelor of Food Science (or equivalent) and proven experience in new product development of multi-factorial food products.
  • Strong technical grounding: Working knowledge of the Food Standards Code, processing/preservation techniques, and packaging artwork inputs (ingredients, allergens, claims, nutrition).

The Perks:

  • Inclusive, collaborative culture - be part of a team that genuinely values its people
  • Wellbeing days – take time to recharge and put yourself first
  • Paid parental leave – 12 weeks of paid parental leave for primary care givers and 3 weeks for secondary care givers…Because life outside of work matters too!
